The White Ford Bronco

Simpson's white Ford Bronco, parked on Rockingham Avenue the night of June 12, 1994, yielded extensive physical evidence. Detectives arriving at the estate in the early morning hours observed red stains near the driver's door handle and running board, first pointed out by Detective Fuhrman. A subsequent search yielded seventeen items of blood evidence collected from locations throughout the vehicle — the steering wheel, instrument panel, console, driver's seat, door panels, carpet, and side wall — along with a plaid cap recovered from the driver's floor containing hair later compared to Simpson's known exemplars. The Bronco's evidence collection became a centerpiece of the defense's contamination attack, with criminalist Dennis Fung facing days of cross-examination over when and how stains were identified and gathered. Defense witness Rosa Lopez testified she saw the Bronco parked at Rockingham during the critical evening hours, offering alibi support that prosecutors challenged over three days of cross-examination. In his deposition, Simpson himself was questioned extensively about his use of the Bronco on the night of the murders, including whether he had driven to Paula Barbieri's residence and made phone calls from the vehicle.
