💬 From the record:
Douglas Deedrick, an FBI Special Agent and hair-and-fiber expert, appeared in witness examinations on six dates across the criminal and civil trials, including direct examination by Marcia Clark in the criminal case and Dan Leonard in the civil case. His testimony addressed hairs consistent with Nicole Brown Simpson's on both gloves and the knit cap, Ron Goldman's on the Rockingham glove, and Simpson's known hair on the knit cap and Goldman's shirt, as well as Bronco carpet fibers matching fibers on the hat and Rockingham glove. Before his testimony, F. Lee Bailey accused the prosecution of discovery violations concerning fiber photographs; a later dispute involved a previously undisclosed FBI report, whose rarity/source portion the judge barred while allowing the disputed photographs. Bailey's cross-examination challenged hair-microscopy methodology, Deedrick's documentation and testing choices, and evidence-handling assumptions, while Barry Scheck later questioned him about fabric imprints, his training and experience, the timing of his examination, and an undocumented observation concerning Goldman's shirt.
