Dennis Fung was an LAPD criminalist whose eight-day testimony concerned the collection and handling of blood and other biological evidence from the Bundy and Rockingham crime scenes. Under direct examination by Hank Goldberg, Fung described evidence locations and collection practices, including his collection of an item from a stump as a reference for the male victim. During cross-examination, Barry Scheck used crime-scene videotapes and records to challenge Fung's recollection, documentation, chain of custody, and handling of evidence, including wet swatches kept in plastic bags in a warm truck for approximately seven hours. Goldberg's redirect addressed chain-of-custody and document-handling issues, and Fung's testimony concluded after further recross and redirect examination.
