Thano Peratis was a registered nurse at the Parker Center jail who drew O.J. Simpson's blood. Because Peratis was unavailable at the criminal trial, jurors received his prior testimony, including grand-jury testimony read from the transcript and videotaped preliminary-hearing testimony. Later disputes over a videotaped statement concerned blood-quantity impeachment, a reported fourteen-minute gap, and allegations of witness coaching; Peratis also appeared as a witness in the civil proceedings.
