💬 From the record:
Commander Keith Bushey served as the assistant commanding officer of LAPD's Operations West Bureau on the night of the murders, giving him functional oversight of detective operations across a quarter of Los Angeles including the West Los Angeles division. Called by the prosecution in rebuttal, he testified about his order to notify O.J. Simpson of Nicole Brown Simpson's death in the early morning hours of June 13, 1994. Johnnie Cochran's cross-examination proved damaging, exposing violations of LAPD next-of-kin notification policy and revealing that detectives had left the Bundy crime scene for two and a half hours to carry out Bushey's order — a point the defense used to challenge the integrity of the investigation.
