The original voicemail OJ Simpson left for Gretchen Stockdale at 7:35 PM on June 12, 1994, recorded through Prestige Voice Mail service in Lomita, California, subsequently copied to standard cassettes. Multiple copies were made, including one given to defense investigator John Pavelic in September 1994; a second copy was later taped over by Stockdale in March or April 1995, while the original digital recording remained on Prestige Voice Mail's systems. The chain of custody — whether Pavelic held the only copy — was disputed between prosecution and defense.
Microcassette tape recorded by OJ Simpson approximately five days after the June 12, 1994 murders, given to author Lawrence Schiller by Robert Kardashian along with a stack of other tapes. Schiller made a digitized copy to reduce background noise; both the original and the digital copy remained in Schiller's possession during civil proceedings. A subpoena seeking to compel production was quashed after Schiller asserted reporter's shield; an excerpt was played on national television.
GTE telephone records and cell phone logs documenting OJ Simpson's phone activity on June 12, 1994, including calls from the Bronco to Nicole Brown Simpson at 2:18–2:22 PM, voicemail retrieval from Paula Barbieri's line at 6:56 PM and again at 8:55 PM, and a cell phone call to Paula Barbieri at 10:03 PM. Displayed in civil proceedings to establish Simpson's timeline and emotional state on the day of the murders, and to demonstrate that Simpson received Barbieri's breakup message.
New York Daily News article by reporter Michelle Caruso, published in mid-May 1995, containing a verbatim transcript and quotation of OJ Simpson's June 12, 1994 voicemail message to Gretchen Stockdale. Used during trial testimony — Clark read the quoted message into the record and Stockdale confirmed it was 'close' to what she remembered.
