Karen Frederiksen, an attorney identified as an associate of Kelli Sager, participated in a September 1995 hearing concerning broadcast restrictions for Craig and Larry Fiato. She argued that asserted safety fears alone did not justify restricting public access to testimony that could be very important, noting that at least one brother had given an interview and that footage existed of both brothers undisguised. Judge Lance Ito ordered that Larry Fiato's testimony proceed without photography, sketch artists, outside recording devices, or the courtroom video and audio feed, and declined Frederiksen's request to permit altered audio.
