Jury entrance

Date: Wednesday, June 21, 1995 • Utterances: 4
Judge Ito brings the jury back into the courtroom and apologizes for the delays, explaining that out-of-court hearings ran longer than expected. He informs the jury that tomorrow morning will also be taken up by another evidentiary hearing, so they won't be needed until the afternoon. He offers the 'good news' that the prosecution anticipates resting its case-in-chief by the end of the following week.

2 THE COURT:

All right. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. Please be seated. Let the record reflect that we have been rejoined by all the members of our jury panel. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.

THE JURY: Good morning.

3 THE COURT:

First of all, my apologies to you for having kept you waiting so long this morning, and also for not being in session yesterday afternoon. There were a number of things that I had to take up out of your presence, and it took longer than I thought it would, obviously. Also, for your information, tomorrow morning I'm going to be conducting another hearing out of your presence regarding some potential evidence and that will probably take the entire morning session, so we will not be calling you back here to the courtroom until tomorrow afternoon, so that is the bad news. The good news is that I've been informed by the Prosecution that they anticipate concluding the presentation of their case in chief by the end of next end, so we are making some progress and hopefully we will be able to wind this up, at least as far as the first half of the case is concerned. All right. Just to keep you apprised as to what is going on, we are making progress, and the reason for that is some of these things that I have to take up out of your presence. So I hope you understand. My apologies to you, but we are trying to make as much progress as is possible. All right. Mr. Darden.

4 MR. DARDEN:

Thank you, your Honor. Good morning.

THE JURY: Good morning.

Signals that the prosecution's case-in-chief is nearing its end, a meaningful milestone for trial timeline tracking.
