Marcia Clark questioned Kato Kaelin about whether he performed chores or errands for O.J. Simpson. Kaelin said Simpson rarely asked him to do anything, though he sometimes fed the dogs, ran errands for the housekeeper, and voluntarily watched or entertained Simpson's children.
# 3 Q: And, Mr. Kaelin, did you -- did you perform any chores that the defendant would ask you to perform?
# 4 A: Can you say that again?
# 5 Q: Yes. If the defendant asked you to do things around the house, would you do them?
# 6 A: Yes. If he asked me, I would definitely do something.
# 7 Q: What sort of things did he ask you to do?
# 8 A: He never asked me anything, really. If I wanted to feed the dogs. If he said, "feed the dogs," sure; But -- not paint the house or anything.
KEY QUOTE # 9 Q: I don't mean that. That would be quite a house to paint. What else did you do around there for the defendant?
# 10 A: Really nothing. There is nothing he asked me to do. Feed the dogs is about it.
# 11 Q: That's all? Feed the dogs?
# 14 A: Barely even that. I kind of wanted to do that sometimes.
# 15 Q: Did he ever ask you to watch the property for him or stay on the property when he was gone?
# 17 Q: Did he ever ask you to go and pick something up at the store for him?
# 18 A: No. Well, gigi, the housekeeper, would ask me that sometimes; and I would do it.
KEY QUOTE # 19 Q: Did you do odd jobs around the house, sir?
# 22 A: Odd jobs? Feeding the dogs?
# 24 A: Yeah. I would do that.
# 25 Q: What other things would you do?
# 26 A: I guess going to the store for gigi if she needed something to be picked up. I think that's about it.
# 27 Q: Anything with respect to the laundry or dry cleaning?
# 28 A: I would do that, too; but my laundry.
# 29 Q: Would you do anything for the defendant in that regard -- pick it up for him from the dry cleaners if he needed anything picked up?
# 30 A: If he needed anything to be picked up, I would, yes.
# 31 Q: Did you do any baby-sitting for the defendant at any time?
# 32 A: Watch the kids? I would do that regardless, yes. if O.J. wanted to golf, I volunteered to watch the kids. Sure.
KEY QUOTE # 33 Q: Or take them to the movies?
# 35 Q: That would be part of taking care of the kids; right?
# 36 A: I would take them to a movie if they wanted to go, sure.
# 37 MS. CLARK: Thank you. I have nothing further.
