Thomas J. Nolan represented Gretchen Stockdale in a discovery proceeding held outside the jury's presence concerning the whereabouts and history of a telephone answering machine tape recording. Appearing with John Schuster, Nolan said they had conferred with the District Attorney's office and defense counsel, that Stockdale was prepared to testify, and that they did not expect to need an interruption to consult with her.
