Sidebar: Hawaii trip admissibility

Date: Monday, July 10, 1995 • Utterances: 8
Judge Ito ruled at sidebar that there was a good faith basis for asking Arnelle Simpson questions about a trip to Hawaii with Paula Barbieri and O.J. Simpson in 1993-1994. Shapiro requested the record also reflect his prior cross-examination on the same topic, which Ito confirmed he had reviewed and had overruled objections to.

2 THE COURT:

We're over at the sidebar. The issue is whether or not there was a good faith belief or cause to ask questions of Arnelle Simpson regarding the trip with Paula Barbieri and the Defendant to Hawaii sometime in `93, `94, and the Court makes reference to the transcript at page 20444 starting at page--excuse me--line 24 and going over to 20445 ending at line 8. I find there was a good faith basis for asking the question.

3 MS. CLARK:

Thank you.

4 MR. SHAPIRO:

May we also just for the record ask you to refer to my cross-examination on that question?
